ACH Group Catering Assistants Pre-Employment Program
Are you looking for to return to the workforce on a part time basis and lack prior industry experience?
HITsa are looking for individuals to train as Catering Assistants to join their ACH Group workforce of over 1700 people.
These services are vital to support older people within residential care facilities.
HITsa will provide training – Basic Skills for the Food Industry* – funded by the Government of South Australia through JobTrainer.
This role is perfect for someone who has a genuine interest and passion for food and enjoys working in a role interacting with people daily.
Essentials:
- Must be able to work 3 days per week – either a morning shift or afternoon shift
- AM shift: 7.30 – 1.30
- PM shift: 3.30 – 5.30
Training will be conducted over three weeks and successful graduates will move into employment with ACH Group after completing a functional assessment and providing the following documentation:
- National police clearance
- DHS Disability Check
- Evidence of:
- 2021 flu vaccination
- 1st covid-19 vaccine completed and evidence of 2nd dose booking

Basic Skills for the Food Industry training includes the following nationally accredited units of training:
- Participate in safe work practices SITXWHS001
- Use hygienic practices for food safety SITXFSA001
- Participate in safe food handling practices SITXFSA002
- Use food preparation equipment SITHCCC001
- Prepare dishes using basic methods of cookery SITHCCC005
Upon successful completion, students may gain employment through the ACH workforce.

• Course duration: 3 weeks
Training is funded by the Government of South Australia through JobTrainer – eligibility criteria applies.
Training will be conducted at Clarence Gardens or our commercial kitchen at the Edwardstown Club, unless otherwise advised.
Training will include a mix of self-paced, theory and practical study.
Assessment will include a combination of both theory and practical observation.
Training will be conducted over three weeks and successful graduates will move into employment with ACH Group after completing a functional assessment and providing the following documentation:
- National police clearance
- DHS Disability Check
- Evidence of 2021 Flu vaccination and covid-19 vaccine details
