About the Opportunity

Public Trustee is actively seeking highly motivated and organised individuals to join our Customer Services team. We have multiple part-time opportunities available within the Personal Estates Branch.

The primary responsibility of this role is to provide clerical and administrative support, ensuring accurate recording and relaying of telephone messages to the appropriate Personal Estates Officer. Additionally, candidates should be comfortable providing face-face customer service when required, creating a seamless and positive experience for all customers interacting with our office in person.

Responsibilities also include precise record keeping, sorting, and distributing incoming correspondence, managing email inboxes, preparing documents, liaising with external stakeholders as directed and maintaining office supplies.

Ideal candidates will possess exceptional organisational skills, strong communication abilities (both verbal and written), and a collaborative mindset. Prior experience in operations of telephone systems, along with the ability to cope with high volume of work and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines, is essential. The successful candidate must demonstrate the capacity to work independently as well as part of a team, always delivering effective customer service.

About the Business

The Office of the Public Trustee (Public Trustee) is a business unit of the Attorney-General’s Department.  The Public Trustee was established in 1881 and is constituted under the provisions of the Public Trustee Act 1995.

The Public Trustee plays a key role in managing the personal, legal, and financial affairs of those people in the community who lack the capacity to manage their own affairs. The Public Trustee also provides eligible South Australians with access to Will making services, powers of attorney preparation and deceased estate and trust administration.

Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicants will be provided further information if an interview is requested. Forms are not to be lodged directly with SA Police (SAPOL) under any circumstances and any fees incurred by applicants in doing so will not be recoverable from the AGD.
