About the role
We are seeking a part-time Cook/Catering Assistant, you will be part of our fast-paced dynamic kitchen team, you will be joining a team passionate about providing quality service to our residents and have high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, who play a vital part in adding to the quality of life our residents currently experience at Edenfield Family Care.

We are seeking a Catering Assistant who:

• Has a passion for food and a great consumer experience
• Has had commercial kitchen experience in an aged care setting
• Understands the demands of working in a kitchen and has a sense of urgency
• Has an eye for detail and has an understanding of commercial kitchen food handling, infection control & hygiene requirements
• Is motivated and can work unsupervised at times

Key Duties include but are not limited to:

• Utilizing resources in an efficient and cost-effective manner
• Preparation (service) of meals for a minimum of 50 residents
• Cleaning of crockery, cutlery and kitchen food storage items
• General food prep skills. This includes basic knife skills
• The overall cleanliness and upkeep of the kitchen including but not limited to, cool rooms, sinks, benches, walls and equipment
• Assisting with preparing meals for residents in accordance with any dietary, cultural and care needs

Desirable:

• Thorough understanding of OH&S and Food Safety practices, holding a current food safety certificate (this can be done online)
• Knowledge and understanding of standards required for Residential Aged Care Facilities, and/or previous aged care experience
• Caring, motivated and efficient person with a genuine interest in caring for elderly people
