Disability Destinations is a small, unique, disability provider that provides in-home support work services to participants of the NDIS. As part of our growing Team, we are looking for an amazing, experienced Disability Support Worker to deliver individualised support and activities to NDIS participants.
You will be able to demonstrate experience in the field, an understanding of the NDIS and National Disability Standards, and will have a strong desire to support people from all walks of life. You must provide a cover letter outlining your experience working within the disability sector.
The Opportunity
Staff will not be expected to provide any restraint, or restrictive practices. Personal care, medication administration, and overnight support may be required. We support NDIS participants with a diagnosis of:
- Mental Health Conditions (aka ‘Psychosocial’)
- Autism Spectrum Disorders (typically ‘Asperger’s)
- Mild-Moderate Intellectual Disabilities
- Physical Disabilities
We are looking for a suitably qualified Disability Support Worker who:
- Has experience working in people’s homes, on a 1:1 basis.
- Will accept 8.30am starts, and evening meal preparation.
- Will provide transport supports to therapies and other appointments, shopping, and social activities as required.
- Will work during school pickup and drop off times
- Will work unsupervised.
Skills and Experience
Essential Criteria
- Completion of a minimum Certificate 3 in Mental Health or Disability, Home and Community Care Sectors or relevant qualification in Social Welfare/Human Services/Behavioural Sciences, Aged Care or Leisure and Lifestyle, and
- Minimum of 12 months of full-time equivalent experience in the Mental Health or Disability sector.
- A current, full Australian driver’s license and registered, roadworthy vehicle in excellent condition, with comprehensive insurance.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Intermediate experience with technology incl. smartphones, tablets, laptops etc.
- Fully functioning mobile phone with 4G/5G capability, internet, and Wi-Fi accessibility.

- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
- First Aid and CPR
- Working with Children Check
- All current NDIS Modules
- Safe Environments Certificate
- Medication Training
- COVID 19 Vaccination (Double Vaccination plus first booster status essential)
