About You
We are looking for compassionate and experienced disability support workers to work with a variety of people including children and adults with complex and challenging behaviours in the south/central suburbs such as Plympton and Highgate. The ideal applicant would be looking for regular shifts, available to work 4-10hour shifts, including passive/active overnight shifts while also happy to flexibly fill in for sick leave and holiday leave.

Your Key Responsibilities
- Provide a safe, home environment to support people in family-based placements with personal care, medications, family contact, social and cultural connections, positive living skills, community inclusion and family relationships.
- Respond to the person’s emotional and functional needs and the development of their personal skills aligned with their goals promoting choice and control.
- Develop and maintain professional and respectful relationships with individuals and their families as well as your support worker colleagues and Case Managers.
- Work collaboratively and respectfully with your support worker colleagues during 2:1 shifts.
- Participate in team meetings, reflective practice and supervision, debriefing and various support activities
- Respectfully assisting with managing challenging and complex behaviours through adherence to behaviour support plans and restrictive practices where required.
- Produce clear, concise and accurate shift notes including reporting of incidents.
- Proactively raise concerns or share initiatives with the Case Managers.
- Assist with transportation to appointments, community access as well as in-home support.
- Assist with administrative requirements and household duties.
Qualifications
To join our team, we are looking for the following skills and experience:
- Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent required
- Full South Australian Driver’s License and reliable car
- NDIS Workers Screening Check
- Working with Children Check
- Current First Aid Certification
- Current CPR Certification
- Manual Handling Certification
In addition:
- Must have sound understanding of the disability industry, the NDIS Code of Conduct and providing person-centred support to people with disabilities.
- It is an advantage to have experience working with child-aged clients.
- Be passionate about supporting independence and providing in-home support.
- Embody integrity, reliability and honesty with the ability to adapt to new environments.
- Be available across 7 days a week and be able to commit to 2-3 shifts per week.
- Be a team player who’s willing to backfill sick leave and holiday leave.
