About you:
As a Disability Support Worker for Lutheran Disability Services, you’ll help our clients to reach their goals, have fun and live fulfilling, empowered and engaged lives. Your goal will be to provide the very best support to enrich lives for people with disability both at home and in the community.
You must be a calm, nurturing individual with fantastic customer service skills. You must also be passionate about developing a valued lifestyle for people with disability; playing an important role in their journey of faith and a more independent and fulfilled life.
About the role:
- Ability to work flexibly across a 14 day/night roster, which includes shift work, weekend, public holidays, night shifts & overnight sleepovers.
- Provide day-to-day support to people with disability in various environments to help them improve their independence and achieve their goals.
- Assist clients with personal activities including hygiene support, medication, housework and meals.
- Assist clients with engaging in community, social and recreational activities including having fun at home.
- Support people within both group settings and one on one.
- Transport clients to community-based activities.
What you will need:
- Ability to develop rapport and convey your message clearly to people with intellectual disabilities
- Understanding of complex or behaviours of concern
- Experience in Mental Health sector advantageous
- Understanding of rights and dignity of risk
- Customer service approach
- You must have or be willing to obtain a Certificate III Individual Support (Disability), or equivalent
- Current South Australian Driver’s license (P2 as a minimum) and willing to transport clients in your own insured and registered vehicle.
- Current First Aid + CPR certificate
- Current DHS (DCSI) Disability Employment Screening Clearance/NDIS Worker Check or willing to complete one
- Proof of COVID vaccination must be provided (3 doses)
