Change of Legal Name – Reissue of Certificate

It is becoming a more commonplace occurrence that people are changing their names not only due to marriage and divorce but also increasingly as a result of how they identify as a person.

This increase in name changes has a flow on effect with past students wanting their certificate reissued in their new legal name.

The first step for any student is to have the Unique Student Identifier (USI) updated.

Once the USI registry is updated, we require verification of the student’s identity along with evidence of the name change (New Birth Certificate/Change of Name Certificate) supplied and recorded before any records can be updated in our system.

Upon all information being updated and verified we can then reissue the certificate in the new legal name.
