Cleaning, Cleaning, Cleaning!
Cleaning, Cleaning, Cleaning!
Recently, a group of Workskil Transition to Work participants successfully completed their Certificate III in Cleaning. The program was designed as an intensive, hands-on course delivered four days a week over seven weeks. To support learning outcomes, each unit was taught across two full days, giving participants the chance to thoroughly absorb the content before applying their skills in formal assessments.
The results spoke for themselves. Attendance was outstanding, the group was highly engaged, and strong friendships were formed throughout the program. To celebrate their achievements, a graduation ceremony was held with job coaches and employers in attendance. Every single participant who commenced the program proudly completed their qualification – a fantastic outcome!
Employers who attended the graduation connected with the students, sharing information about opportunities in the cleaning industry and outlining potential career pathways.
These programs are particularly valuable for Transition to Work (TTW) participants, as they provide far more than a qualification. Students also gain essential workplace readiness skills, including:
- Establishing a daily routine – helps participants transition smoothly into regular work schedules
- Arriving on time for training – reinforces reliability, a key trait valued by employers
- Taking responsibility for attendance and communication – builds accountability and prepares participants for workplace expectations
- Presenting professionally each day – encourages the development of positive first impressions and workplace-appropriate behaviour
- Adapting to different trainers – mirrors real workplace dynamics where employees must follow direction from multiple managers or supervisors
- Completing tasks to a high standard – ensures participants understand quality and consistency, essential for sustaining employment
- Building teamwork and interpersonal skills – develops collaboration and resilience, supporting participants to thrive in group environments
