HITsa Celebrates 20 years

Congratulations HITsa on 20 years

What an achievement. Thank you to everybody - students, staff and industry partners, who have helped HITsa reach this milestone.

From small beginnings starting at the Norwood Hotel in 2005 to what it is today, HITsa has accomplished so much!

  • 5 HITsa Locations - Salisbury, Clarence Gardens, Mt Barker, Mt Gambier and the Commercial Kitchen in Adelaide's CBD
  • Offsite Training delivered across metro and regional SA and as far away as Melbourne!
  • Offering a diverse range of qualifications and short courses in Hospitality, Cookery, Individual Support, Community Services, Early Childhood Education and Care, Cleaning Operations, Retail, Business Administration, Leadership and Entrepreneurship

The occasion was celebrated at each of our sites with party fare and decorations.

Happy Anniversary to the HITsa Team!

At HITsa we've had plenty of milestones to celebrate in recent months.

In December '24 we acknowledged the 15 year service anniversary of our General Manager, Julie and 25 years of service by our Business Manager, Sarah. Both started work within HITsa's parent company the Saturno Group, prior to their involvement with HITsa.

The party continued into January, with HITsa sharing it's celbration of 20 years of operation with Executive Officer, Olly who was also chalking up the same amazing 20 year milestone.

Olly's passion for quality training has been a driver behind HITsa's growth and success. Reflecting on her career we did a quick Q+A:

What has been your highlight from the last 20 years?

Watching the growth of the organisation not only sites but also diversity in the training options and qualifications we offer

What was the best piece of advice you have received?

There are so many but I always remember "Write the email then delete - wait and start again"

What's your next goal?

Taking HITsa to the next level of growth

Tauondi Aboriginal College First Nations Students

on path to becoming Early Childhood Educators

Tauondi logo

A groundbreaking training program designed specifically for First Nations students is nearing its completion, having successfully prepared a new generation of Early Childhood Educators (ECEs) for roles in Indigenous early learning centres. As the program enters its final weeks, candidates are eagerly preparing to begin their work placements at Indigenous Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) centres, where they will be able to apply their skills in culturally rich and supportive environments.

For many of the students, this program has offered a path that aligns with both their professional goals and cultural values. The course, held at Tauondi Aboriginal College campus was designed with careful attention to the unique needs and experiences of First Nations learners, and it has provided a space for participants to build knowledge and confidence while staying connected to their cultural roots.

With specifically allocated support personnel focused on student well-being and success, the program has been able to provide the extra assistance needed to ensure students’ educational journeys are smooth and rewarding.

Student Spotlight

Meet Natasha, an Individual Support student at HITsa Salisbury, who encountered a real life situation that put her practical skills to use.

"On New Years day I visited my local swimming centre for a day out. As the afternoon wore on, an alarming incident unfolded. I had just stepped out of the pool to grab a drink and chat with a friend when I heard frantic shouts; "someone's under the water!" and a bystander yelled "it's not a joke!". In that split second, I scanned the scene for the lifeguards only to realise they were on the opposite side of the pool, far from the emergency. Without hesitating, I made the decision to act.

I sprinted toward the individual being pulled from the water by teens. Arriving just as they were laid on the ground. It was clear they were unresponsive. Drawing on my recent training, I immediately began chest compressions. Thankfully, after just a few moments, they started to respond and coughed up water. Life guards were there to take over and we were able to place the person in the recovery position and we provided comfort and oxygen until the ambulance arrived.

I truly believe that if I hadn’t completed my First Aid training, I wouldn’t have had the confidence or courage to step up in such a critical moment. Every second counts in emergencies, and I can assure you that I didn’t hesitate for even a moment. I leapt into action, driven by instinct and a sense of responsibility. Natasha
