Our Commitment

HITsa is committed to complying with the Australian Privacy Principles for the fair handling of personal information developed by the Australian Information Commissioner.

What Information Do We Collect?

Personal information is information that allows others to identify you.

Certain personal information is collected when you contact us, including but not limited to, your name, gender, date of birth, email address, mobile phone number and postcode.  This could also include information from individuals who seek enrolment in a training course or apply for work through HITsa. This information may be in the form of a resume – forwarded by the applicant by mail or e-mail.  Information is also gathered from other parties that could include TAFE Institutes or Registered Training Organisations as well as Job Service Providers or Government Departments including the Police, emergency services, Health services providers and child protection Agencies.  Personal information gathered must only be used for the purpose agreed by both the provider of information and HITsa.  If you have enrolled in training with HITsa then you will receive emails, SMS or postal mail from us to inform you of events and special offers or employment opportunities as an example.  If you have enrolled in a training course you will receive SMS’s to advise you of upcoming dates of attendance.

Biometrics are collected for all staff as HITsa use fingerprint recognition software as a form of identifying employees to validate time and attendance. All staff are required to have a finger scan record for these purposes. Copies of fingerprints are not created or stored. Instead, the software creates a map of 25 to 40 unique features of each fingerprint and puts this into a data format called a template. The template can only be interpreted by a biometric engine and is not recognisable as a fingerprint.

 How Will We Use It?

Your information will be held in the strictest confidence. HITsa will not disclose, share or sell any personal information about you to any third party.

The information collected is for the purpose of recording academic statements, informing funding bodies of academic achievements and employment outcomes, including employer details, number of hours per week etc.  We may also use personal information to notify participants of potential employment opportunities.

Information may also be shared when there is a threat to a person’s health or welfare; or where there has been an offence committed on any HITsa training site or offices.
