Complete a qualification at HITsa’s school holiday program
HITsa’s school holiday program is designed especially for senior secondary school students who want to get ahead in SACE Stage 1 and 2.
Certificate II and III programs are available in December and January. You’ll have the opportunity to complete your qualification before school returns in 2027.

HITsa Training Kitchens approved by the Skills Commission
HITsa have just received official notification that we have achieved Occupational Recognition Service Quality Accreditation (ORS QAP) with the South Australian Skills Commission.
This accreditation means that students completing the SIT30821 Certificate III in Commercial Cookery training contract with HITsa will automatically receive Occupational Recognition certification without the need for additional assessments or fees.
HITsa is incredibly proud of this achievement and what it means for the future of our students and industry partnerships.

Mobile Barista Training — Bring the Café to Your School
We’re excited to share a fantastic new opportunity for schools looking to build hospitality, customer service, and employment pathways for students.
Our Mobile Barista Training Program brings a fully equipped café-style training environment directly to your school. The mobile training van includes commercial coffee machines, grinders and all the resources required to provide students with an authentic, hands-on barista experience — without the need for a commercial hospitality facility.
The program offers:
3-day nationally recognised barista training — SITHFAB025 Prepare and Serve Espresso Coffee
Includes the required Food Safety component — SITXFSA005 Use hygienic practices for food safety
Delivered onsite at your school
Requires only a ground-level space and access to water
Up to 12 students per group
Delivered by a trainer with 25+ years of industry and training experience
There is also an option for a non-accredited Espresso Experience, providing a great introduction to coffee and hospitality for students or staff. This can be particularly valuable for engagement and re-engagement programs or students who are beginning to explore hospitality as a career pathway.
The Mobile Barista Training Program could be an ideal option for:

Lee’s experience studying at HITsa Salisbury
In August, we delivered a retail and food safety employability skills program at HITsa Salisbury. This short course of nationally recognised units of training covered engaging the customer, selling to the retail customer, working effectively in a service environment, balance and securing point-of-sale terminal and food safety.
Pictured is Lee, who enrolled into this course. Lee loves making music at home and playing video games.
When asked what he enjoyed most about the course he responded: “Just everything about the course…the learning about lifestyles of work...to find a job in the future”.
Unfortunately, Lee had to miss a couple of days due to illness but he was determined to complete the course so came in early to catch-up and also stayed after class to complete his work.
Lee’s commitment and effort have paid off. With individual support from trainers and the hard work he put in, he will shortly receive his statement of attainment for completing the course.
What will Lee be doing now that he has finished this course? He’s “not sure yet”, but whatever he does, if he applies himself the way he did during this course there can only be good things ahead.

Café Skills in Action – Mt Gambier
Our recent Café Skills Training Program gave participants the opportunity to build practical hospitality skills in a real working environment at Elementary by Soul.
Across the program, participants developed hands-on skills in food preparation, food safety, espresso coffee and customer service.
The program finished on a high, with employment service providers joining us on the final day to see participants put their new skills into action — preparing and serving food and showcasing everything they had learned.
A fantastic finish to a hands-on program, and a great opportunity to bring training, confidence and employment pathways together.
The HITsa Team has been Connecting with Schools and the Community
The HITsa Team have been out and about attending school expos and careers events across the region, connecting with students, teachers and local communities.
These events provide a fantastic opportunity to discuss the VET pathways available through HITsa and how completing a qualification enables participants to gain practical skills, earn SACE credits and become job ready.

Our Student Data Specialist Celebrates 7 years at HITsa
Karen commenced with HITsa at our Parkside site back on the 6th September 2019.
She was the RTO Co-Ordinator (RTOC) for the health courses which mainly consisted of CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support and Provide First Aid.
Since Karen commenced, HITsa has grown and in 2022 our Clarence Gardens site was expanded and the Health Team moved from Parkside.
With the move came new courses including Community Services, Early Childhood Education and Care, non-accredited training and more trainees undertaking Individual Support.
In May 2025 Karen’s role changed and she took on the role of Student Data Specialist, which incorporates reporting and RTOC for our Clarence Gardens and Mount Barker sites, along with supporting our Mount Gambier site.
Here’s to another 7 years!
Students supporting each other
A student with additional support needs was attending a one-day course at HITsa Clarence Gardens. A support worker was scheduled to work along side them but unfortunately did not arrive. Here is the feedback from the Student’s parent:
Dear Manager and Staff,
I wanted to take a moment to provide some feedback and, most importantly, to thank you all for the care, kindness and consideration you showed my son, O during his RSA course today.
O had been booked approximately four weeks ago to attend the course with his CBS care support worker and mentor. Unfortunately, they were unable to attend due to paperwork not being submitted for payment for the support worker service. Neither O nor myself were informed beforehand that his planned support would not be attending, which was extremely disappointing and left O attending the course without the support he had been expecting.
O contacted me at lunchtime to let me know that his support worker had not arrived. Naturally, I was concerned, but O reassured me that he was okay. He told me how well he had been cared for and supported by Lizzy, the trainer, the staff and the other students.
What really touched me was hearing O talk about how kind and welcoming everyone had been. He told me that he was enjoying his day, learning new things and growing in confidence. This meant so much to me as a parent.
I am extremely grateful to you all for stepping up at such short notice and for actively encouraging, supporting and including O throughout the day. Your care and understanding helped him continue towards achieving his goal of obtaining his RSA.
I truly feel that the support you provided deserves to be recognised and positively rewarded. It made a genuine difference to O and to our family.
