Brewing Opportunities on Kangaroo Island!
Sometimes the best training experiences happen when we take learning beyond the classroom.
Recently, HITsa Trainers Lizzy and Gemma packed up training resources and plenty of enthusiasm before making the journey across to beautiful Kingscote on Kangaroo Island.
Over five days, they delivered SITHFAB025 Prepare and Serve Espresso Coffee training to 30 students from Kangaroo Island Community Education, providing hands-on training that was practical, engaging and, of course, fuelled by great coffee.
From learning how to extract the perfect espresso to steaming silky milk and creating café-quality beverages, students immersed themselves in every aspect of coffee preparation.
Confidence grew with every cup as theory was quickly transformed into practical skills in a supportive and encouraging learning environment.
For many participants, the training was more than just learning to make coffee.
It was an opportunity to build workplace-ready skills, gain nationally recognised training and open doors to future employment within the hospitality industry.
Delivering quality training to regional and remote communities is something HITsa is passionate about.
We know that access to training can make a real difference, and being able to bring industry-standard learning directly to Kangaroo Island ensures local students have the same opportunities to develop valuable skills without leaving their community.
The week was filled with learning, laughter, teamwork and plenty of delicious coffee.
We are incredibly grateful to Kangaroo Island Community Education for welcoming us and to every student who embraced the experience with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.

Celebrating the Impact of Our Trainers
At HITsa Training and Employment, we know that successful training is about more than delivering qualifications—it is about the relationships built, the confidence developed and the positive impact trainers have on each participant’s journey.
This month, we would like to recognise the incredible work of our trainer who supported our SIR30216 Certificate III in Retail participants across our Oaklands Park and Elizabeth Park programs.
Throughout these programs, our trainers created a welcoming and supportive learning environment where participants felt encouraged to participate, build confidence and embrace their learning journey. For many TTW participants, returning to education can be a significant step, and having trainers who create a positive, inclusive and engaging classroom environment can make a lasting difference.
At the completion of their programs, participants surprised their trainers with handwritten cards, gifts and heartfelt messages of appreciation. These messages were not requested or collected as formal feedback—they were genuine expressions from students who wanted to thank their trainer for the support, encouragement and kindness they experienced throughout their training.
These unexpected messages are a wonderful reminder of the difference trainers make every day. Beyond teaching course content, our trainers help participants believe in themselves, reconnect with learning and recognise their own potential.
A huge thank you to our trainer for the dedication, enthusiasm and genuine care shown to our SIR30216 Certificate III in Retail participants. Your commitment to creating meaningful learning experiences has had a lasting impact on the students you support.

An Amazing Achievement!
During the school holidays, a fantastic group of students from St Martins Lutheran College completed their CHC22015 Certificate II in Community Services through a condensed program at HITsa Mount Gambier.
The students gave up part of their holiday break to complete the course and were absolutely amazing! They worked hard and supported one another throughout the program.
They should all be incredibly proud of this wonderful achievement. Congratulations!
From Classroom to Career: Practical Training That Makes an Impact
August has been a month of celebrating learner achievements and showcasing how practical, industry-focused training can create meaningful pathways into employment and further education.
Supporting Career Outcomes
A key highlight this month was the successful completion of our eight-week CHC32015 Certificate III in Community Services program delivered in partnership with Jobs Statewide in Victoria.
Nine participants successfully completed their qualification, developing valuable skills and industry knowledge to support individuals and communities. Graduates have gained a nationally recognised qualification that provides a strong foundation for employment or further study within the community services sector.
Bringing Retail Learning to LifeThrough Inclusive Education
HITsa is excited to partner with The Department of Education and Christies Beach High School to deliver our Introduction to Retail program at the Noarlunga TAFE campus, supporting students with disabilities to engage in an inclusive vocational learning experience.
Students will experience vocational learning in an authentic training environment, including access to the Mini Woolworths training facility. This simulated retail space allows students to develop practical skills in customer service, merchandising, stock handling and workplace communication while gaining insight into the expectations of the retail industry.
By combining classroom learning with hands-on experience, students can explore career pathways, build confidence and develop workplace skills in a supportive environment designed to meet diverse learning needs.

Concordia College Completions
A huge congratulations to our students from Concordia College. This month they have completed both their SIT20421 Certificate II in Cookery and SIT30622 Certificate III Hospitality.
Dedication and commitment from the students enabled these students to achieve their qualifications while also attending school and completing all regular coursework.
We look forward to more of our fabulous VETRO students completing their qualifications and moving into further study.
Farewell and Best Wishes Amanda!
Last week we farewelled Amanda (the RTO Coordinator at the Salisbury site for Health and Early Childhood) as she began her maternity leave.
I asked her what is the one thing you are looking forward to doing on your first day of maternity leave?
“Taking a moment to slow down and enjoy a quiet dinner with my partner at our favourite restaurant - knowing it might be one of our last uninterrupted meals for a little while!”
I also asked her, from her experience as an RTO Coordinator, what advice would she give students to help them be successful with their study?
“Studying can be challenging at times, and that's completely normal. My biggest piece of advice is not to try and do it all on your own. Stay organised, ask questions, and make the most of the support available. Your coordinators and trainers are there to help, so if you're unsure about something or feeling overwhelmed, reach out. The students who are most successful aren't necessarily the ones who find everything easy - they're the ones who stay engaged, seek support when they need it.”
A couple of weeks ago we celebrated to with a morning tea with HITsa and Saturno staff. It was lovely to be able to show our appreciation for her hard work and dedication and to remind her of the positive difference she has made in the lives of so many students as they have completed their studies with HITsa. Her friendly face and calm demeanour will be missed by all. We wish her and her family all the best and look forward to meeting her new family member.
