Eligible funded participants - $460 co-contribution payable at start of each year of training (please refer to skills.sa.gov.au for Participant Eligibility Criteria, or contact us for further details.)

CHC33021 – Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability)

Are you considering a career as a Disability Personal Support Worker?

HITsa’s Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) will provide you with the qualification you need to commence work as a disability support worker. This qualification is suitable for compassionate individuals who are highly motivated to support people living with a disability to maintain their independence and stay connected with their community.

Job opportunities/work pathways exist in a variety of settings including supported accommodation and private homes. A range of specialties are available such as:

Disability carer
Personal care assistant
Community care worker
Respite care worker

Participants of this course will be individuals who have little or no relevant experience and want to start working in the disability support sector.

This course is also suitable for those already working within the disability sector who want to gain a nationally recognised qualification.

This qualification is available through a traineeship arrangement and VET in schools.

Successful completion of this qualification also requires participants to undertake a minimum of 120 hours work placement. This placement will be organised by HITsa’s Work Placement Coordinator.

Course Details

CHC33021 – Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability)

Courses commence every month so there is no need to wait until the start of a term or semester to begin your studies.
Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) combines online training with 28 face to face training days.
Training is completed at a convenient HITsa location—Salisbury, Clarence Gardens or Mount Barker.
Each site boasts an operational skills centre where participants can train in the practical aspects of a disability care worker role and can also practice these skills in a simulated work environment prior to work placement.
Training includes both theory and practical study. The theory of each unit is introduced online prior to the trainer-led face-to-face sessions.
After completing all training requirements, participants must undertake a minimum of 120 hours work placement to achieve this qualification. Work placement gives participants the opportunity to put their learning into practice, under appropriate supervision. HITsa’s Work Placement Coordinator will arrange suitable work placement with one of our industry partners.
Assessment includes both theory knowledge and practical observation in HITsa’s skills centre and also during work placement.
All course materials and work placement uniform will be provided to the participant by HITsa.
Access to a computer and the internet is required for self paced and online activities.

Participants who successfully complete all units of training and work placement will be issued with the nationally recognised qualification CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability).

Participants who do not complete the full qualification will be issued with an Academic Transcript.

CHC33021 – Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability)

This course is funded by the State Government through the Subsidised Training List (eligibility criteria applies).
If eligible for subsidised training a $460 student co-contribution is payable on enrolment (this is non-refundable should you decide to withdraw or not complete the qualification).

If you are not eligible for subsidised training, a course fee of $2,300 is payable. Flexible payment terms may be negotiated.
All participants will be required to obtain a National Police Clearance and DCSI screening (Vulnerable Person, Disability and Child Related) screening.sa.gov.au
Participants cannot commence work placement without these documents and will not be able to successfully complete the qualification
Evidence of up-to-date vaccinations may be required by Work Placement Providers prior to placement.
