Chef Apprenticeship – Certificate 3 in Commercial Cookery SIT30816
- Course duration will depend on elective units selected (898 – 945 hours in total)
A chef apprenticeship is for a nominal period of 4 years. As an apprentice, you and an employer have a formal agreement called a training contract and generally your off-job training will be completed in 3 years.
You will learn on the job (on-job) under your supervisor at your place of work, as well as (off-job) with HITsa Training and Employment in a commercial kitchen environment.
Off the job training will be organised with your employer and you will be required to complete this training in order to achieve your nationally recognised qualification. Release will be on a regular basis (weekly or fortnightly), generally on a Monday or Tuesday.
No training will be conducted during peak industry periods (December and January).
