Hospitality Career | Hospitality Jobs

Working in the hospitality industry can be great for many reasons. If you’re new to the workforce or looking for something different, a hospitality job can be a great way to kick start a long term career.

Positions in hospitality range from entry level, full time to management. Often people just see hospitality as working behind a bar pouring beers. However, this is not the case.

Hospitality venues can range from; pubs, hotels, restaurants, cruise ships, cocktail bars, resorts and more. These venues require housekeeping staff, kitchen staff, gaming staff and bar staff to make them run efficiently. Which are all classed as hospitality jobs.

Furthermore, choosing a hospitality career path can open the door to many opportunities. You can start as a dishy in the kitchen and work your way up to Head Chef. Or you could start as a glassy and end up as Venue Manager. The opportunities are endless.

Entry Level

The hospitality industry is great for school students, school leavers and entry-level job seekers. As well as anyone else interested in working within the industry. There are many pathways and short courses available to help you get your foot in the door. Plus, the industry often hires younger employees as their wait staff and dishys. Which may seem like the easier jobs (not necessarily), but they are a great step towards a future career in hospitality.

Working in hospitality gives you the opportunity to meet and talk to new people everyday. From talking to new customers, old customers and every day regulars. You will meet people from all walks of life and some may even become long term friends.

As a hospitality worker, you’re able to make someone’s day with something as simple as asking how they are, or even remembering what a certain customer drinks. Which is a rewarding feeling.

Furthermore, if you love meeting and interacting with people, a hospitality career could be just for you.

Career growth

You may be presented with the opportunity to grow your hospitality career and step up into a bigger position. This may be from a dishy to kitchen hand or a bartender to duty manager. These opportunities can be offered to you for your hard work. Or you can undertake extra training outside of work to help get you there – maybe a Basic Gaming Course for example?
